Pigmy bulb containing small sailing ship, lighthouse and cottage. The ship has a black and white hull, an orange deck, 2masts and 3 sails, a jib sail, a lugsail and a gaffsail. Onshore is a black and white lighthouse and white cottage with a red roof. The sea and background are painted brown and blue respectively. To the right of this group is a small torch bulb containing a two-masted ship with a black funnel and in the background a red and white light-house and a red-roofed cottage. Model of sailing ship in light bulb.

Two tiny working violins and bows made by Torquil Macleod in 1938. They are in a green imitation lizard skin covered wooden box lined with pale peach satin and are glued to this lining. Torquil, who returned to Tain after working as an engineer in Africa, made full-size violins, bagpipes and model boats. Also contained in the box are the two card templates for the violin bodies.

Model of small passenger liner approx. 65mm long inserted in an electric light bulb. The sea and coastline are formed out of putty and painted blue, brown and green respectively. Placed on the cliff edge are a lighthouse and 2 white cottages with red roofs. The ship has a black hull, white superstructure and an orange deck. The two funnels are solid, black and painted orange over the top. A blue and white colour mix has been painted onto the glass to give a background sky effect. The stand is of stained wood with a wood cradle to hold the bulb which has previously been glued on.Printed on paper stuck on base - Inserted by - Torquil McLeod

Model of passenger liner in a light bulb.

Model of Nelson's Flagship H.M.S. Victory mounted on a plain mahogany base. This is a 3 masted ship-of-the-line having a foremast, mainmast and mizzen mast together with large bowsprit. The model has no sails. There are 51 gun ports on either side and 6 canons on deck, two of which are facing forward. The ships anchor is hanging from the bows and resting on the base. The keel is painted black, the hull white and above the water-line black with yellow bands along the bank of gun ports, the shutters being painted black on the outside and red inside. Above this line, the rest is painted blue. The ship has a decorated galley at the stern.The ship was extensively damaged and underwent repairs in 2021.

Model of H.M.S. Victory

A clinker-built, single-masted, fishing boat having a jib sail and a lugsail. There are 4 seats equally spaced along the length of the boat as well as one in the stern which extends 50mm along each side to the next seat. The bilge at the stern of the boat is covered by a triangular-shaped board drilled with holes. The boat is steered by a hand tiller in the stern. There are 3 sets of rowlocks and the entire boat is varnished. It is mounted on a varnished wood base.Written on a piece of paper stuck on base - Made by Torquil W. McLeod Tain 1947

Clinker Fishing Boat

Model of a two-masted sailing ship having a bowsprit and mainmast and rigged as follows:- flying jib, outer jib, inner jib, staysail, fore topgallant fore Royal main Royal staysail, boom foresail, gaff topsail and mizzen. The ship has stay's to all sails and shrouds port and starboards to both foremast and mainmast. The hold has access at points on the deck, forward aft and midships on the model. These are shown covered with the ship's life-boat positioned on top of the main hatch cover. The ship's wheel is at the stern and there are port and starboard anchors and chains on either side of the bows, which have the draught painted on either side. The red navigation board is shown on the port side - but the green starboard one is missing. The model is fixed to a board covered with a putty-like substance covered in green, made to simulate choppy seas.The original ship operated out of Tain and traded with the Baltic ports and North of England.Printed on the stern and on lifebelt - St. Duthus Tain; On the port bow and on pennant - St. Duthus.

Model of a twin masted, open decked fishing boat. registration No. INS293. The boat has a red keel, black hull, 3 brown sails and the bowsprit and other spars are blue. the gunnel is painted white and the deck varnished. The deck has a centre well.
