Here we have a picture of my father Matthew Graham who lived in Fountain Road. I believe it was taken at Aldie Farm late 1920s/early 1930s, when dad was still in his teens. Dad was over six feet and an excellent ploughman, giving you an idea of how big these magnificent horses were.

The Aldie Mill house behind was where my maternal family lived for a very long time until 1987. My grandfather, Murdo Ross, born in 1881, was the miller, until he died in 1968, my grandmother having died in 1937, and my uncle, John, carried on as miller until 1971, though he continued to live in the house until 1987 when he moved into Tain. I lived at Aldie until I was 11, moving to Tain in 1961, and returning to live in the same house in Tain in 1988 until the present day. The window you see was my bedroom and the shed at the end was for bikes. The house has been modernised, the mill is also now a house and Tain Pottery operates from some of the former farm buildings.
