Do you know what the Aide.De. C. means?

In this case he would have been the "Aide de camp" or assistant to a more senior officer.

I found a web site with a picture of a George William Ross who was also on the same boat (Howe) but different title-Sub Lieutenant. He was killed at Gallipoli. He really looks like the man in the picture.I found that on Benfleet Community Archive. Can you tell from the uniforms? Thanks for your help.

In the photograph Admiral Ross & Aide de Camp is in fact a Captain - he could have been in Howe Battalion as part of the Royal Naval Division.
If you Google 'royal naval division memorial" you will see pictures of the RND memorial re-erected in Horse Guards parade in 2003
I attach a copy of link where you can see recruiting poster of the day for the RND www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/82753711873162926/
