I still have my book from Year VI, the "Col. The Hon. Frank M. Ross Prize for Mathematics". I didn't enjoy reading and didn't want a book as my prize but was told I had no choice when I was led into Margaret ?'s book-shop in Tain High Street. I remember seeing this gentleman during a school assembly but I can't recall which year - probably during his visit in 1963

His wife, Phyllis,is standing behind his left shoulder. By her 1st marriage she was the mother of John Turner, some time Premier of Canada. Forbears of the first Premier, John A Macdonald, came from the Lairg area. Forbears of the mother of the present one, Justin Trudeau, came from Kiltearn & Tain. His gt gt grandparents were Alexander Ross & Betsy Ann Munro who taught in Bonar school at some time.
