The photograph also gives a good view of the shed yard, trackwork and semaphore signals at the northern end of the station.

Undated photograph, probably c.1928–1946, showing Highland Railway ‘Small Ben’ Class locomotive Ben More beside the engine shed at Tain Railway Station. Built by Dübs & Co. in Glasgow in 1899 as Highland Railway No. 4, Ben More later became LMS No. 14400. The locomotive was withdrawn from service in October 1946. The photograph also provides a particularly good view of Tain's two-road stone engine shed and semaphore signalling.
