Geordie's Grave

In the Aldie Burn forest area a few hundred yards north of the ruins of Culpleasant and off the track leading to the ruin of Causewayend (GR 742798), a small granite gravestone bears the following inscription –

GEORDIE/ THE FAITHFUL FRIEND AND COMPANION/ FOR ELEVEN YEARS OF JOHN DEWAR/ KILLED BY A ROAD HOG NEAR PERTH/ 9TH AUG. 1928/ SERVED WITH THE 3RD BAT. THE CAMERONIANS/ 1917-18 For further information about John Dewar see Picture #297
