This view of the Murray Monument which stands in Tain High Street was taken by Tain photographer, William Smith. The monument was erected in 1879 to the memory of Kenneth Murray of Geanies, a provost of Tain, by public subscription.

I looked under 'Monuments' hoping to see a picture of Tain's War Memorial, which is inside St Duthus Church. Because of its indoor site I have never been able to photograph it successfully, to show my father's name and that of his brother, the two Grants. They were the only children of Mrs Grant of Easter Pithogarty, Fendom, and were killed within a year of each other in the Second World War. Has anybody been able to take a good photograph of the Memorial?
