Seaside sketches at Tain
This example of a humorous postcard from the begining of the 20th century was posted in Tain on the 30th August, 1906 to "A S Jennins Esq, c/o Mr Shoolbred, Kildermorie, Alness". In the message on the back, mention is made of a W Kindlater winning "Mr Maitland's prize at the bowling last night," and of a good time being had in "the Railway" afterwards. It is signed "J.H.G." The post card is one of a series of comic post cards produced by a company called "Cynicus Publishing Co., Tayport, Fife. They were never vulgar but funny and cynical, hence the name "Cynicus".
