The 1948 Tain Carnival Queen (Lewis Fraser) is pictured in front of the Royal Hotel along with her attendants and some of the children taking part in the Fancy Dress competition. Several proud parents/interested spectators can be seen in the background.

Comments

The children in this photo are not fancydress participants but those who took part in the open air children's concert for the crowning ceremony which took place in the grounds of the Old Academy.

The children performed songs and dances from nursery rhymes and you can make out Wee Willy Winky and Little Miss Muffet standing near one of the queen's page boys I recognise the top of my sister's bonnet who played the part of "Mary had a little lamb".

Added by Mrs Sheenagh Urquhart on 26 March 2004.

I am the page boy on the left and my brother Colin on the right.I think the little girl next to him could be Alison Gray?

Added by Dugald Mackenzie on 21 August 2007.

I am pretty sure I was the second page boy
