Welcome to our website.
Tain & District Museum is an independent, volunteer run museum in the North of Scotland. We serve the area of Easter Ross; helping to perserve and interpret our past and provide locals and visitors alike with a high quality experience when they visit. When you can't visit the museum in person you can share in some of what we do by visiting this website: read transcriptions of a selection of documents on The Collections; view some of the many artefacts held in the museum Collection, including the Tain Silver Collection; a great favourite with everyone is our Image Library and new to our upgraded website is Articles where we intend to provide information on a variety of subjects covered in our exhibitions or provided by members of the public.
All this is "work in progress" and, as you can imagine, requires volunteers to put in the hours doing the research, adding information, photographs and images to the website. Visit our Donate page to find out how you can help with this work.
We are Tain & District Museum and Clan Ross Centre. This year is going to be very exciting as we hold our second Clan Ross Gathering in Tain. Keep up with the news on the Clan Ross page and book your ticket from our Museum Shop.
Enjoy the website and come and visit us if you can.

Our latest news and activities.
Tain & District Museum is home to an extensive and varied collection of objects, photographs and archives of local, regional and national significance. Because of the relatively limited exhibition space, only a small proportion of the collection is on display at any one time. Our website allows us to make more of the Collection accessible to all.
We welcome Rosses from home and abroad. Find out about Clan Ross history and latest news of Clan activities.
